Your first time in London? by DSGC

Dear students/teachers/travelers/readers/bloggers/human beings/aliens/whatever you're

DSGC here!

If you're a new student that wants some advices about travelling in this whole new country for you.  WELCOME TO CAMBRIDGE EUROCENTRES! I'm sure that you will enjoy your stay here, and I will be doing, through this blog, my best to help you in this new city/school.

First of all. As the title says, you want to go to London for your first time ever, and I suppose that you're not totally sure about what you will be doing on London, or how to do the things you want to do. Perfect, no problem.

Let me tell you that London is not the type of city where you can get lost easily (If you ask questions as: "How can I go to......?" in the underground, you'll be fine there.). Is it a big city? Yes it is. There you can stay one week going to new places everyday and you won't be done there.

Fine, London is a big, safe and entertaining city, LET'S GO!!!

NO,

WAIT!

BEFORE visiting amazing places such as London eye, the HUGE Buckingham palace (believe me, is HUGE [700 rooms is enough?]), the Westminster Abbey, the Parliament House (with Big Ben in), Tower Bridge, etc.  You have to know WHY they are there, or inclusive WHAT THEY ARE.

I really recommend you THIS before going to so big and amazing places in London:

New Europe is a company doing FREE walking tours around Europe, and guess what: they are in LONDON!

It's free and very interesting. I really recommend you going with this tour to know the city, and understand what had happened to London during the centuries to become the city that is nowadays.

Last recommendation:
Spend 1 day with morning's free tour in Old London (where you go to see House of parliaments, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey), and in the afternoon go to the New London Tour.

With both of this tours you're done. Believe me.
AFTER this go another day to attractions, or two days, or the days you like.

In just one day you will pay almost nothing and you will have seen the 80% of what London is.

And if you don't like it you have the right to go to throw rocks at my window.

Enjoy your staying.

See you in another life!

For new students

Dear readers,

I'm going to talk you about my experience here in cambridge and I'll give you some tips.
1.- I think what you should do first when you arrive in Cambrigde is to rent a bike in station cycles , so you can ride it through all the city and know some places.Station cycles is the best place to rent because the bicycles you can rent are very good bikes. Also if you stay here a long time you can buy one for 130 pounds and when you leave you can sell it to them in half of the price or a little more.
2.- Then if you want to buy something and you find that they are very expensive you can go to the Graffton shopping mall to a shop named Poundland were all is 1 pound , its like a supermarket and it sells all kinds of stuff.
3.- If you want to take some good pictures to the colleges you can go punting and Scudamores is your best choice, you'll see a lot of interesting things like the King's College the Mathematical Bridge and others.

4.- And also if you want to travel to other places of Europe I recomend you to see packages in expedia.com and also if you want to know what you can do there you must check tripadvisor.com.
It has been 20 years since I left Canada and went back into my country, Greece. I forgot all about English and now that I start from zero again , I discovered Eurocentres by coincidence; I was rejected by CCSS (preparation for higher education in Cambridge University). After the age of 28 no one can apply for CCSS.So while I was walking by the Bateman street ," a door opened": Eurocentres.
The staff was very helpful and warm welcoming, so I made my first progress there. New directions and new horizons are infront of me now. I applied to Wesley House , one of the 38 colleges here in Cambridge , and O wonder of wonders! I was accepted for a Distance Learning Diploma-Certificate. However, I still need to improve my English and I have to achieve a high degree in essay writing , more than 70 %. I also have to take the IELTS and achieve at least 5.0.
